Final Major Project

TOPSHOP X PERISCOPE

  Through my final major project I was able to creatively contribute to the fashion industry through demonstrating commercial awareness, whilst developing business and planning skills and to gain knowledge within my chosen industry sector. Through project management, I was able to define my subject specialism through ideation for a new marketing strategy for Topshop with, the introduction of live streaming platform Periscope as part of Topshop's permanent social media strategy.

The ideation and purpose is to provide Gen Z consumers, the ultimate early adopters of the visual- first culture with interactive communication whilst still allowing the content to be genuine and engaging. The introduction of Periscope for Topshop will be an authentic story telling social media platform, for customers who are already avid Topshop fans and to attract new customers through live streaming. Topshop will be one of the first high street retailers to adopt this social media platform and see it become a part of their full time social media strategy. Periscope for Topshop will be developed as the demand for more visual content that requires less concentration are increasingly becoming more relevant with Gen Z, with teenage girls increasingly using visual platforms, with 61% and 51% on Instagram and Snapchat, according to Pew Research centre.
