The Great Gatsby ball was organised by myself and 8 other students from Birmingham City University, Through innovative ideas, collaboration and fundraising for a charity of our choice, Trekstock and Graduate Fashion Week.  With live performances from Michael McIntyre and Dynamo. The event was a great success and gain press coverage from over 90 online articles including OK magazine, The Mail online, Hello magazine and E! news. and raised a total of £350,000 for Trekstock Teenage Cancer Charity.

 

The evening ran accordingly with a cocktail canapé on arrival, where guests were able to purchase a twenty pound raffle ticket which could give them the chance to become the proud winner of an uncut diamond! Once seated in the main hall, the guests were introduced to their host for the evening Scott Mills. We were lucky enough to secure the support of magician Dynamo and comedian Michael McIntyle who performed for our guests on the evening.

 

The live auction was a great success, and included prizes from British band Coldplay, which included a signed and personalized fender guitar and also hand written lyrics from Chris Martin himself. The prize also involved meet and greet tickets to watch Coldplay live! Other prizes included a one to one cooking lesson with Jamie Oliver which was delivered to our guests via video link that he has recorded previously for us to show on the night to our guests, to encourage them to dig deep in their pockets for a great charity. The cooking lesson was auctioned off for an amazing value of £20,000.

 

I could not have been prouder of how hard to whole team working in executing this amazing event! It was one of the most challenging achievements but was by far the most amazing project I have ever been a part of.
